2. Absorbed by Native People Theory :In this theory it is believed that the colonists went to live with the native people and became part of their community by either marrying them or becoming their slaves.

3. Lost at Sea Theory : In this theory it is believed that the colonists tried to sail back to England on their own and got lost at sea.

Split Community Theory : In this theory it is believed that most of the colonists took a boat and sailed north to Chesapeake since that was their original plan, while leaving behind the remaining others on Roanoke. It was then that the colonists who stayed at the for on Roanoke Island then left to go to Croatoan Island.
